Along the Delta, Rhythm and Bayou Highway
This is a "drive by" inspired painting. I was driving from Oklahoma to Jackson MS one evening in October. We hit the delta region just as the afternoon sun was casting long shadows and the sky was lit up with beautiful shades of many different colors. A train was traveling on our right and cotton fields were to the left and right. I was not driving so I drew a few quick sketches to remember it all and took a few photos. Much later, in my studio, I reworked the memory in oil on canvas of driving through the Delta region of Arkansas and Mississippi on the Delta, Rhythm and Bayou Highway.
