Hudson River/ Iona Island at Dusk
This image is what resulted from me witnessing that “quieting down” part of the day at the wetland by Iona Island. I watched the beautiful light washing over the landscape, filling the sky with the pinks and violets of another day’s passing. I photographed while drawing and making notes as quickly as I could. I came back another day and did a more detailed drawing, so I had a solid foundation to work from but it was the hushed drama of the end of the day that I wanted to paint, when the simple, the ordinary, can take on mystery.
